Happy Summer!
Stay tuned for registration information in early August

Peak Families, Hope you are having an amazing summer and now you are ready to start the school year! Thanks for your patience in waiting for this message as we wanted to ensure it went out as close as possible to the start of school to capture all enrolled families. We still had families enrolling throughout this week and their information had to be entered into our call system. Registration: *Please click on the link below to complete all required registration forms for the 22-23 school year: http://track.spe.schoolmessenger.com/f/a/H8WQhC5LOO3819zE9KjBKQ~~/AAAAAQA~/RgRk1trMP0RgaHR0cHM6Ly9kb2NzLmdvb2dsZS5jb20vZG9jdW1lbnQvZC8xTFZDVUw1aGpONEhUQ0xQUWtQOV9ZempTd0ZWYmFzZGZwQ01pODNvZWNWSS9lZGl0P3VzcD1zaGFyaW5nVwdzY2hvb2xtQgpi6Uyn9WJrjZsAUhRsaXNzYWIyMDEwQGdtYWlsLmNvbVgEAAAAAQ~~ Even if you have completed our Day Trip waiver form in the past, we need one completed each year. School Supplies: *As noted in registration and similar to previous years we do not send school supply lists and instead collect a $25 fee to give communal essential supplies to all students. We believe this aligns better with our CREW values and culture to have all students receive the same materials and makes life a bit easier for parents:). FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! Next Tuesday August 16th! As always, the safety and security of our students, staff, and families is our greatest priority! *Parent/Guardian Peak Cards - will be given out at the beginning of the school year to gain entrance into our building. These cards will be something to keep in your card, wallet, or purse, because they will be required to enter our building. We will use alternate forms of ID if necessary, however we are asking everyone to get into a new habit to increase security at our main entrance. *Drop Off/Pick Up - To reduce the potential access of our school at multiple entrances, drop off and pick up will only happen at the two main entrances of our building. For K-1 students, parents will still park and walk these students to our South Entrance, where a staff member will support both the entrance in the morning and pick up process in the afternoon. For 2nd-5th grade students, parents can drop off at the front of school so they can enter the building at our main entrance each day. Any parents entering the building will need their Peak card and will go through the sign in/sign out process in the main office. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - Tuesday August 16th 7:45 - Arrival for Breakfast 8:00-8:15 - Arrival for School Start K-1st - South Entrance 2nd-5th - Main Entrance Late anytime after 8:15 *Lunch is only free now for Free/Reduced qualified families* Please pack a lunch or purchase. Packed lunch should avoid using peanut products as much as possible. 3:00 - K-1st grade students - Please park and walk up to the south entrance of the building for dismissal. 3:15-3:30 - 2nd-5th grade students - Please use the car line process and please do not arrive prior to avoid adding to traffic of K-1 dismissal. *Recent Security Improvements - With the bond funding, Peak received cameras that monitor the exterior of our building. We also have 2 additional secure entrances in case of emergency and exterior doors to classrooms will remain closed and locked throughout the school day. *Future Security Improvements - Also with bond funding, we are in line for a new vestibule in our main entrance that will have the most up to date security process in JeffCO. *Everyday School Items - Make sure your student has the following items every day at Peak: backpack, water bottle, sunscreen applied at home - we cannot apply to students at school, sunglasses and hat encouraged and allowed in school, packed lunch if not purchasing or receiving school lunch. *Class Assignments: Class assignments are finalized and have been reviewed to ensure a balanced and diverse learner CREW for all. We do not take requests for changes unless there is a significant academic need. We purposefully mix students each year to make sure they get to know how to show CREW with all students in their grade level. Another positive to our school growth is the ability to offer specialization in literacy/social studies and math/science in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. *Students in 2nd grade will have both Ms.        Jocelyn for Literacy/SS and Ms. Lo for Math/Science. *Students in 3rd grade will have Ms. Melissa  for Literacy/SS and Ms. Danielle  for Math/Science. *Students in 4th and 5th will have Ms. Carolyn for Literacy/SS and Ms. Amanda for Math/Science. This structure will allow our staff to truly "expeditionize" learning in all 4 content areas. It will also give elementary students the chance to work with more than one teacher, which can help with the adjustment to 6+ teachers in middle school. *Class Assignments K-1 - Students in K-1 have the same teacher throughout the day to provide developmentally appropriate familiarity and stability for our youngest grade levels beyond Preschool. *We are attempting to use our SeeSaw communication system to have teachers send an introductory email to all students by this coming Monday. This will identify who their CREW teacher is for 2nd-5th and who their primary teacher is for K-1 students. *We will also have Peak staff members with class lists in front of school the first day in case there is any technical issue with these emails reaching you by Monday. *Save the Date - Our Back to School Night is what we call "Stakeholder's Summit Dinner" and it is set for Thursday September 8th 4:30-6:30. We are VERY excited to see our Peak community on the first day of school next Tuesday! We completed two major projects over the summer with our community input from the spring. We now have a  competitive indoor climbing wall in our gym and a low ropes challenge course on the back side of the building! Students will actually start learning how to climb the first 2 weeks of school due to the extreme heat and we will start our bike park schedule the week of August 29th. See you in the crosswalk...probably with my orange hat:). Make it a great day! Sincerely, Mr. Tim Carlin Principal of Fun Peak Expeditionary School at Pennington
